Getting to Know the TWOK Grill

twok2

At Dot’s Ace Hardware, you know we’re all about grills. That’s why we’re excited to feature these totally unique grills that originated right here in East Texas—Tyler, to be exact.

The TWOK (pronounced tee-wok, in case you were wondering) is a super versatile grill that brings all kinds of new dishes into the great outdoors. The TWOK is a plow disc cooker, an instrument Texas ranch hands have used for years. Original plow disc cookers were actually made using used disks from plows (but don’t worry—your TWOK was made solely for your grilling pleasure).

twok3Instead of a grill grate, the TWOK’s cooking surface is a thin metal disc shaped like a Chinese Wok that’s perfectly optimized for even heat distribution. The benefit of that? You can saute, blacken, boil, grill, toast, steam and smoke—it’s a great way to bring all of your favorite cooking techniques into the great outdoors!

Don’t just listen to us, though. See for yourself! The TWOK website has a collection of mouthwatering recipes that are perfect for cooking on this unique grill. Check them out!

We invite you to get acquainted with these grills – and be entered for a chance to win your very own TWOK – at a TWOK cooking class on Thursday, Feb. 16 from 6-8 p.m. at Dot’s Ace Hardware! In this class, Chuck Sanderson will show us around the Twok and prepare food live in class. Ticketholders will get to learn, taste, and ask questions! At the end of the class, one attendee will win at TWOK! Tickets are $25 and space is limited, so register today!
